Dying A Throw Rug

Dying a throw rug. One idea i stumbled onto was the overdyed rug where you take an ugly old natural fiber rug and dye it a rich jewel tone to mask the outdated pattern and make it more modern. Rather than throw it out you could breathe new life into a rug by dyeing it. Dying provides a simple way to update your favorite bathroom rug to match a new color scheme. In a great twist of fate i found a large 10 x 12 wool rug at the thrift store for only 15.
The one caveat is that it should be made out of wool or natural material as synthetic rugs can t withstand the dyeing process. I don t want to paint it and loose the pattern. I just purchased an indoor outdoor 8 x 10 rug for my gazebo. A fresh dye job can also cover old stains or rejuvenate a faded rug.
If it isn t dark enough make another dye bath with one and a half times the dye you used in this bath and soak for up to another 30 minutes until your color is achieved. Not all bathroom rugs are.
