Double Matting Technique
Once the framer grasps what a double mat actually is the proper way to cut it seems clear.
Double matting technique. This technique is ideal when you want to call out a color featured prominently in the art but don t want a full color border. If you re new to the world of custom framing you may not have come across double matting before. Just take two mats of the same overall size. Double knitting allows you to create two layers of fabric at the same time with only one pair of needles.
